Joeys Coop, dubbed the indie supergroup by George Palathingal (Sydney Morning Herald), features the combined musical muscle of some of Australia’s most seasoned independent musicians most notably Brett Myers axeman and principal songwriter of 80s/90s indie legends Died Pretty, regarded as one of the country’s most unique and underrated guitarists. Joeys Coop live have been described as “a tight and sophisticated outfitâ€, “mesmerisingâ€, “cool like you should be bigâ€, “enthrallingâ€, and “famous if they weren’t oldâ€. They will be playing songs from their forthcoming second album, Lachlan Valley Dirt (out early 2022), which veers towards a rootsier almost hillbilly vibe while maintaining their indie rock and pop sensibilities. Their songs tell tales of fractured family, loss, drought, imprisonment, stolen land, the oddities of 21st century life, dead cats, mid-life existential angst, memories of landscape lost and mediations on lives gone wrong.
